INTEGRATIVE APPROACH
All of us, growing up at some point will feel dissapointed and let downs. When the human environment is unavailable or incapable to be supportive in this process or even when one's human environment disrupts the normal upbringing from an emotional and psychological perspective, or events occur that disrupt normal development, defenses are cultivated that are very useful at the time to aid survival, literally and psychologically. These defenses however may prove to be dysfunctional for example by preventing the individual from connecting with others in a meaningful way.
Psychotherapy actually involves the modification of these defenses. To make what is unconscious to conscious, unconscious behavior to become conscious, therefore to gain more understanding of one's own self, their motives, as such having the choice to decide how they would like to live their life taking into consideration the consequences They gain more acceptance of themselves and the ability to aknowledge, experience and and manage their emotions, regardless of what is happening in their lives.
Tools and cultivated knowledge are used, from psychodynamic approach, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), RE-CBT (Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), play therapy and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), ψυχοδυναμική, το DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), RE-CBT (Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), η παιγνιοθεραπεία για τα παιδιά και το ΑΒΑ ανάμεσα σε άλλα.
EMDR
Founder or the method is Francine Shapiro. The letters standing for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (desensitization and reprocessing via bilateral stimulation). The method combines many elements from effective psychotherapeutic approaches (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic, somatic therapy etc.).
The goal is to reprocess past stressful or traumatic events, which lead often to dysfunctional symptoms in one’s everyday life. Then with the guidance of the therapist, you might go into resolving and reprocessing problematic situations that occur today, and trigger beliefs, emotions and bodily emotions. During a session, the patient focuses on bilateral stimulation while thinking of the traumatic or stressful event. Bilateral stimulation reinforces associative processing and as a result the patient experiences change on a cognitive, emotional, neurophysiological and bodily sensations level. The session is concluded with the installation of positive cognitions and positive patterns of behavior for the future.
EMDR therapy has helped successfully people who faced psychological difficulties, due to traumatic experiences (war, captivity, natural disasters, accidents, loss, illness, abuse, emotional or physical). Within a safe therapeutic environment, and with the help of a specialized therapist, the patient can overcome the pain, suffering or shock they might have experienced, whether it was one single traumatic event or several traumatic events that lasted for years (rape, abuse, neglect).
The goal is the conversion of a dysfunctional assimilation of a traumatic experience to a functional within a safe therapeutic environment. The goal is the reprocessing of dysfunctional thoughts, emotions, on a psychological, physical and neurophysiological level. EMDR therapy is conducted only by trained mental health professionals who have had thorough training.
Apart from cases of post-traumatic stress disorder EMDR can be used to successfully deal with phobias, panic attacks, anxiety disorders, depression, addiction, obsessive compulsive disorder, chronic pain or other serious illnesses and the psychological consequences they have. There also are positive reports about the efficacy of the method in dealing with personality disorders (i.e. narcissistic, borderline, etc.). Finally, it can also be used for performance anxiety for athletes, actors, and others. EMDR can be used in individual and group settings for adults, adolescents and children.

A small group is an safe environment where each member can re-experience and repair trauma he may have had within the family context. The difference is that in the therapeutic group interpersonal relationships are analyzed thoroughly.
The members of the group cultivate interest and care for one another, as each is important for the group. This fact is contributes to development of self-esteem. του.
In group psychotherapy, in contrast to other forms of psychotherapy, the desired changes occur faster and tend to be permanent. Also, people that heal in groups, improve their interpersonal relationships more. Otherbenefits include the lower cost,.
As a result, the function of group psychotherapy is described by Foulkes like a band where each instrument has its own sound, while all together create a unique harmony. The role of the therapist looks like that of the director of an orchestra. He guides each musical instrument, but mainly he guides the whole orchestra in order to create harmony.
